THE Nail Doctor nail care tips

I have just got back from holiday and my nails have definately seen better days! The sun, sea, chlorine and gripping too hard on my glass of sangria have taken its toll. They are brittle, dry and keep splitting – I think its now my nails turn for a bit of TLC. So I am taking them to see The Nail Doctor!

The experts at THE Nail Doctor have been keeping our nails in top condition for years with their fab nail problem solutions. So, we asked them for their hot tips to keep your nails in talon perfect condition.

Check out their top nail care tips below:

1. Always wear a base coat-especially when wearing dark/bright colours

2. Never over buff nails-gentle buffing once a week for visible ridges/splits is plenty

3. Preferably remove cuticles with the appropriate product rather than cutting them off-this causes cuticles to grow back thicker and faster.

4. If a dark polish fan, try to give nails a break and go bare for a day or two. Pigments dry out the nail and can be the cause of ridges and splits.

5. Get into the habit of massaging a nail oil into your nails before bed-you’ll notice the difference

Plus they checked our nails into rehab to get them back to full health. For 10 days THE Nail Doctors have prescribed me with THE Nail Doctor Rescue Me, a strengthening duo of basecoat to nourish think, weak nails followed by Rock on Hardener to create a durable protective barrier from damage.

I am going to start applying the treatment tonight and will feedback on the results!

THE Nail Doctor products can be bought nationwide at Boots.

Beauty Tip: How to tan, safely!

Every week we will be giving you expert beauty and make up advice from the resident LatestinBeauty expert, Lina Cameron.

Our first tip is how to tan...safely!

We all know when summer is “supposedly” here. Supermarkets, pharmacies and beauty stores line their shelves with sun protection products. Milky textured, oily smooth, sweet smelling lotions and potions get us in the holiday mood.

However, though easily forgotten, the best advice I can give is to use a sunscreen every day come rain, hail or shine.

Through progressive education we have come to learn that the negative impacts of the sun’s harmful rays are not reserved for the months of June to September – holiday season. Instead rays are present all year round. Even on cloudy days!

THE SCIENCE BIT: There are two types of rays in particular we should be weary of.

UVB Rays: These penetrate until the superficial layers of the skin. They are responsible for delayed tanning and burning; in addition to these short-term effects they enhance skin ageing and significantly promote the development of skin cancer.

UVA Rays: These are more powerful and penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin. They are responsible for the immediate tanning effect and can also contribute to skin ageing and wrinkling. Recent studies have found that UVA rays may be responsible for inducing skin cancer. For this reason the industry has started producing sunscreens that will protect your skin from both UVA and UVB radiation.

From an early age make the application of sunscreen an integral part of your beauty regime. Prevention is always better than cure and I consider SPF 45 a MUST HAVE! Don’t be put off by the high factor number, long gone are the days of thick creams that never seem to absorb. There are now foams, oils, gels and sprays. I love Linda Meredith SPF 45 because it’s so light in texture, smells amazing and is the perfect base for make-up.

I love shopping at John Lewis, there is something quintessentially British about it – and I always know I am going to get good service. That goes a long way with me, manners cost nothing. Lately I have been using their website, same amazing products but allows me to be a little lazy and do my shopping from the comfort of my sofa!

So it was with great delight for me when I was told that JohnLewis.co.uk have launch new beauty ranges to their website – one of which is my favourite kitsch brand, Benefit Cosmetics. High quality products, bang on trend , but with a sense of humour!

To celebrate their launch on JohnLewis.co.uk we take a look at their top five best sellers.

Cat Deeley fronts Pantene Aqua Light hair care range

Many women either find that too much washing of their hair leaves it heavy and lifeless, but too little is dry, brittle and dull. Know the feeling? I do, I often feel that my hair doesn’t look as fresh and weightless as I would have liked, even when I have only washed it a few hours earlier.

We aren’t alone! A survey carried out by Pantene Pro-V revealed that we all get frustrated with not being able to get the hair we want. A problem they are now calling 'the need for the Swish Factor’ – the clean, swishy hair of girls in the hair ads! Let’s face it; we all want to look like we have just stepped out of a salon.

To help us achieve this Pantene UK have created a new range called Aqua Light. The collection of shampoo, conditioner, intensive treatment and leave-in treatment spray each contain unique technologies that help combat the causes of heavy lifeless hair, whilst injecting fresh, fragrant bounce and vitality - and more importantly give you the ‘Swish Factor’!

Pantene have also now got their own Swish Idol, in the form of Cat Deeley. The UK’s favourite TV presenter was yesterday named as the face of Pantene Aqua Light – and they couldn’t have made a better choice. Let’s be honest, who hasn’t wanted that girls hair even back in the days of Ant and Dec! Yesterday we caught up with Cat to find out why she wanted to be part of this new range.

Cat explained how she is a low maintenance girl. ‘When I am not working I just use my eye lash curlers and slap on some Clinique Lip gloss. I am all about products that make life easy and manageable.’ A girl after our own hearts. She told us that she loved the new Aqua Light range by Pantene and she admires the fact that Pantene really listen to women and provide a solution, at an affordable price.

Check out behind the scenes video of Cat Deeley making her Pantene Aqua Light commercial.

Miss Deeleys favourite product is the Aqua Light Lightweight Nourishing Mist, which is designed to instantly nourish your hair with virtually no weight. ‘Sometimes if I am really lazy and haven’t washed my hair for days I spray in to freshen up my hair and give it some life, or I spray in when damp, twist my hair into sections, sit in the sun and wait for it to dry. This gives me that perfect beach babe look’. Ahhh, she makes it all seem to easy!

Discover more at the Pantene Aqua Light site or buy the range now at Boots.co.uk

What is your skincare regime?
Sensitive baby wipes, wash and moisturise. I have a special moisturiser and face wash made up by my dermatologist

oooh toughy…I’d say Bobby Brown do really good moisturiser and make up preparation. Their foundation and concealer make my make up stay on all day. Most importantly I like the glowing skin make up look it gives.

If you could only have one make up / beauty product in your handbag what would it be?
Rose lips Vaseline

Have you had any beauty or hair disasters?
My stylist cut my hair and took a massive chunk out so I had to have a fringe cut to stop it looking silly!

Are you a makeup junkie or do you prefer going au natural?
Definitely au natural

Which celebrity has great skin or make up style?
Cheryl Cole has amazing skin and I adore Kate Moss’ make up style

Lipstick or lip gloss?
Lipstick

Pencil liner / liquid liner?
Liquid liner

What is your everyday hair regime?
On a non work day I’ll just scrunch it a bit with my hands and I’m good to go but on a work day I use Bumble & Bumble hair products and put some rollers in to give it body

Which celebrity has great hair?
I admire P!nk because she’s not afraid to experiment with her hair and it always looks really cool
Name a makeup crime that you hate?
I can name two; streaky fake tan and lipstick on your teeth!

Tell us a beauty secret?
It’s not really very rock n roll but you can’t go wrong with decent night’s sleep and drinking plenty of water

It seems that everyone is going organic these days – and we have another gorgeous treat for you.

You may have heard or used the fantastic range of soaps and balms from Dr. Bronner’s but now they have launched a Magic Moisturising Lotions line to the UK. Available in a range of fresh and mouth-watering flavours including Orange Lavender, Peppermint, Patchouli Lime and Lavender Coconut, all of which have been certified organic.

I was lucky enough to try out the Lavender Coconut Dr. Bronners ‘All-One’ Organic Lotion for hands and body. The bottle says this cream is lightly scented but I would say it has a pretty deep smell of lavender, perfect if like me it’s something you love! Melvita Extra-Rich Hand Cream

by Sarah-Jane

This product is best for: dry hands, sensitive skin, organic skincare, online shopping

Price: Treat yourself

Melvita - Which means honey (mel) and life (life) in Latin, is actually pretty new to the UK however it is the largest organic skincare range in France, so they must be doing something right! Their philosophy is At The Heart of Nature, and their whole range is certified organic by Eco-Cert. That is pretty good going and credentials we think it’s worth shouting about!

I have vowed to start looking after my hands and nails by treating them to some moisturisation every day. I don’t leave the house without using my face cream, so why should my hands not get the same regime?

For the past two weeks I have applied Melvita Extra-Rich Hand Cream. It is as says on the tin, extra rich. The cream is thick but silky and nourishes my hands even at their driest. You need to leave it for a minute or so to really sink into the skin and avoid any greasy residue. The Melvita Extra-Rich Hand Cream contains aloe vera, cocoa and shea butters combined with the repairing qualities of argan and hazelnut oils to leave your hands instantly soft and smooth. Plus the citrus twang to the scent leaves you fresh and revitalised. The perfect morning hands treat.

If you haven’t tried the Melvita range I would definitely recommend it. The Melvita Extra-Rich Hand Cream is available now at LooksFantastic.com at £15.00 for 150ml tube.

Tigi Bed Head Superstar Queen for a Day Thickening Spray

by Sarah-Jane

This product is best for: thick hair, hair volume, online shopping

Price: Treat yourself

I have to tell you about a new product I bought this weekend. Its fab and I seem to have developed a bit of a beauty crush on it!

There is nothing worse that lank lifeless hair. I like mine to have body and lift – just like a movie star, oh how glamorous. I was looking for something that would hold my thick hair without turning it into a crunchy mess, which I find from so many hairspray type products do. I was recommended the Tigi Bed Head Queen for a Day Thickening Spray and so went straight out to buy it. Well you can’t get more glam than royalty, can you?

You apply the spray to wet hair and then blow dry as normal, or like me I sprayed all over my already dry barnet for mega root lift and texture. It adds real volume to your hair which held well throughout the day, but still allowed the hair movement for a perfectly natural finish. Plus the spray comes in a gorgeously bright purple can which looks perfect on my dress table! Simple things...

Tigi Bed Head Superstar Queen for a Day Thickening Spray is normally priced at £11.30 for a 30ml spray, however LookFantastic.com are selling this now for £9.65

Beautifully Delicious Honey and Almond Scrub

Body Scrub Review

This product is best for: high street shopping, normal skin, self tanning,

Price: Bargain!

I have been using quite a bit of fake tan lately and so needed to find a good body scrub as part of my fake tanning prep! It’s not easy being gorgeous hey?

I tried the new Honey and Almond Body Scrub from Beautifully Delicious. The bottle says it’s almost good enough to eat...and they aren’t lying. It has a beautifully sweet honey aroma, which isn’t too sickly, and the scrub was full to the brim with fine pieces of walnut shell allowing me to exfoliate any dry skin.

I have been using this once a week and my skin feels flawlessly smooth, moisturised...and smells absolutely great (until I apply the fake tan...!)

The Beautifully Delicious scrubs are also available in Papaya & Mango and Coconut & Shea and priced between £3.98 and £4.99. You can purchase these directly from Beautifully Delicious or from Boots.

Festival Hair Styling

by Sarah-Jane

So, it’s that time of year again, where we gawp at picture after picture of Kate, Sienna and co trotting around VIP areas at the hottest festivals, looking unbelievably stylish, enviably gorgeous and as though they have not given their hair any thought whatsoever. NEWSFLASH! They have indeed given it lots of thought and used key products to create the perfect festival looks.

I am off to V Festival next month so called on top industry stylists Mark Leeson and Leo Bancroft share the secrets on how to recreate their festival dos.

Kate Moss
Leo said: “Kate suits most hairstyles and over the years has tried almost everything. She always returns to her long, messy look, as seen at Glasto recently. Kate has had hair extensions applied to give her some length and volume back after a recent shorter look. Ask your stylist for advice on how extensions can help you achieve this look. For those of you with mid-long hair, it’s really easy. Use a sea salt spray on day old hair and srunch the ends with your hands. Glam grunge, it’s that simple.”

Jameela Jamil
“Rich brunette tones are a key trend right now and this moody, bitter chocolate colour is perfect for the gorgeous Jameela’s laid back festival style. To get the look simply blast hair until it is almost dry, using your fingers as a comb. Always apply a heat protection product before drying. Split hair into four sections (imagine four bunches) then twist each section and roll up into itself, securing with a hair grip. Apply heat for a few minutes then allow to cool. By the time you’ve packed your RayBans you’ll be ready to roll. Simply remove clips and run your fingers through to break up the curls. Finish with a spritz of sea salt spray to make sure your wave stays put all day long.” Says Mark.

Florence Welch
Leo says: “Florence has become a huge hair icon - her flame haired locks are everywhere. The colour aside, Florence often embraces her hair’s natural texture and never opts for anything too polished. This is the biggest theme on the 2010 festival circuit – glam grunge. A key product to create this look is Shu Uemura Liquid Fabric Mineral Texture Spray. Apply to damp hair and diffuse or allow to dry naturally for easy to manage, frizz free curls and waves. “

Emma Watson
Mark says: “The plait has made a huge comeback this year, the side plait and fishtail plait in particular. It has become the hairstyle du jour for stylish girls and women everywhere. Emma’s messy plait is a sure fire winner in the festival style stakes. This style works best on unwashed hair. Start by sweeping all the hair round to the desired side then plait loosely leaving an inch or so at the bottom. Secure with a covered band then gently tease the plait with your fingers to mess it up a little. Mist lightly with hairspray such as Goldwell Brilliance Sparkling Fix to give staying power and you are ready to go.”

I have to tell you about a new application for you lucky iPhone owners from L’Oréal Paris. I downloaded it the other day and have been hooked. It’s a beauty junkie haven and a great app for those that want beauty tips and advice.

The application allows you to browse L’Oréal’s gallery of makeup looks, watch tutorial videos and complete the skincare and hair colour diagnostics to receive personalised product recommendations. Plus, and this is my favourite bit, the application has an interactive scanner which allows you to scan the barcode to get more product information and advice....or even find the nearest store to buy. Nifty!

If like me you love L’Oréal products then I would definitely recommend downloading this now, whether you just want advice on which products to use or just need some inspiration for a new makeover. It’s quick and easy to use and more importantly free to download.

Get the L’Oréal Paris app on your iPhone now....because it’s worth it! (Sorry I couldn’t resist).

French Connection Beauty Bargains

by Sarah-Jane

This product is best for: Sun Goddess, Bargain Hunters, High Street Shoppers,

Price: Bargain!

I love the summer, not only because the sun comes out to play - but also because all my favourite high street stores start their summer sales to make way for drab winter knits, knee high boots and beauty products to save your skin from harsh weather conditions! None of which I want clogging up my cupboards...yet anyway.

I went shopping this weekend and had a wander around the French Connection sale to find an outfit for my holiday next month. There were jumpsuits, maxi dresses, pink shorts, blue shorts, sheer blouses, and platform heels - a true fashionistas haven.

However what did I come out with? The Bronzing Essentials make up kit from the FCUK beauty range! I may not have a new dress to wear but at least I know this will give me a sun-kissed glow with from a silky bronzer and shimmer on my cheekbones with the Satin Finish Illuminating Lotion. The perfect size to fit into my ever bulging suitcase and what's more it only cost me £4 instead of £8, leaving me more cash to splash on more of their fantastic beauty products!

The sale runs across the whole French Connection store but make sure you check out the beauty range and grab a few bargains before they sell out!

TIGI Urban Anti+dotes Shampoo and Conditioners

This product is best for: dry hair, damaged hair, urban living

Price: Treat yourself!

Last week the lovely guys at my hair product favourite, TIGI, invited me down to the Bedhead Studios in Battersea to look at their new Urban Anti+dotes hair care collection - plus see their masters at work!

Now we all wish we could claim to be hair care angels but let’s face it the lure of over-dying, over-tonging and straightening is just sometimes too much to resist. And that’s where this fantastic new Bed Head Urban Anti+dotes hair care range comes in! For once we are encouraged to not lie about our hair sins and misdemeanours, but instead face up to them – and treat it!

Anthony Mascolo, TIGI’s International Creative Director said "hair has never been in more need of help with all the damage inflicted upon it from straightening irons and too much product. Once damaged, hair becomes coarse, porous, weak and difficult to manage and ultimately it will look unhealthy and neglected."

To help combat badly conditioned hair the new collection of detoxifying, repairing and rejuvenating shampoos and conditioners come in three prescription levels which are designed to drip-feed your hair with essential hydration and nourishing ingredients to help you repent against your hair crimes of the past!

Tigi Urban Anti-dote #1 – Re-energize Shampoo and Conditioner – for normal hair that needs a daily pick me up

Tigi Urban Anti-dote #2 – Recovery Shampoo and Conditioner – for dry, damaged hair that needs a moisture fix

Tigi Urban Anti-dote #3 – Ressurection Shampoo and Conditioner – for weak, brittle, chemically treated hair that needs an intensive intervention

It’s great to finally see a hair brand that doesn’t make you feel ashamed of your bad hair habits! We sat down and had a chat with the TIGI guys to hear more about the company and their products. All the hair designers have an influence in designing this new range so you know that as trained professionals they are looking for a product that actually works and it was amazing to witness firsthand the passion they have for it!

I collered one fo the stylists to get my own personal hair therapy and once I had confessed all, I was diagnosed as needing to use the Urban Anti=Dote #2, Recovery, designed to give a moisture fix to my dry and damaged locks. I used the shampoo and conditioner the next day...and it’s great. My hair was shiny and manageable and smelt great due to the scent of of Goji Berry and Papaya in the formula. If like me live in the reality of a busy urban lifestyle these are definitely worth a try. Make sure you pick the best prescription for your hair type – and give your tresses some TLC!

This range is available now at professional hair salons. For UK stockists visit tigihaircare.com or call 0844 844 094

If you like professional hair care ranges you try the Lumenèsse Age-Defying Colour Care, avaliable in Hydrating or High Volume ranges. This specialist hair care range has previously only sold in hairdressing salons across America. However you can now buy online at the new LatestinBeauty Shop, £13.99 for a 350ml bottle.

Shower treats good enough to eat

by Sarah-Jane

This product is best for: normal skin, high street shopping, fruity buys

Price: Bargain!

Everyone seems to being going smoothie crazy this summer! First we had a hair range from Schwarzkopf and now Radox are introducing Shower Smoothies. There are five delicious flavours to choose from and they all look good enough to eat. Whether it's the natural blend of chamomile and real cranberry in Soul Soother or a blend of coconut, real almond bits and myrrh in Totally Tropical, you will be sure to find your morning fix. My bathroom is starting to look like a health food shop with all these new summer products, but what’s good for the inside has surely got to be good for the outside?

I am a big fan of fruity flavours. There is something invigorating about a big burst of juicy fruitiness to wake you up in the morning so I couldnt't wait to get in the shower and try one. Surely they also count to your five a day which makes up for the piles of toast I consume after.

I honestly could not decide which flavour to try for, as they all smelt so gorgeous. In the end I opted for the Soul Soother as this looked like it packed a good punch to kick start me in the morning. It was a creamy and thick consistency that lathered well into smooth velvety foam. However I have to admit I wasn’t sure I liked there being real cranberry seeds within the cream as I literally felt like I was washing with a smoothie from my fridge! Still my skin was soft and moisturised and it was certainly a nice and refreshing start to my morning.

Radox shower smoothies are on sale now – plus for a limited period boots.com is offering them at £1.24 which is ½ the original price! Don’t miss out

Passing the Test of Line

This product is best for: high street shopping, natural makeup, long lasting makeup

Price: Treat yourself!

I had heard of long lasting make up – but felt quite sceptical about it. I had visions of drag queen streaks of eyeliner and clumpy lashes, thick applications to last the promised length of time. So when I was offered the chance to try Colorsports collection...I passed it on to a friend to try. My reasoning being that she goes for natural tones in her beauty style, and if it impressed her, then I knew we could be on to a new winning product!

Colorsport claim to be the ultimate in long lasting makeup providing luscious lashes and beautiful brows that can last for as long as 30 days! The perfect solution for busy mums, sports enthusiasts....or the good old fashioned party animal!

We all know how frustrating it is to spend hours beautifying yourself only to look in the mirror a few hours into an event to find yourmagic has disappeared. (Or rather smudged to the corners of your eyes). So I had my fingers crossed that Colorsport have found a way for us to look beautiful 24/7 without having to devote our lives to the task!

My friend tried out the Long Lasting Eye Definer.
“As an eye liner novice, I was a bit sceptical at how ‘user friendly’ the product might be, however I found using the liner pretty easy. It enabled me to get close to the lash line and so achieved a natural look which was what I was after. The black/brown colour is more natural than plain black. The colour could be as light or dark as you wanted as you can build colour with further applications. I was quite surprised that the liner seems to stand the test of time and yet is also easy to remove with eye make-up remover. I always had visions of the panda effect from eyeliner with dirty smudges around my eyes as the day wore on, but this stayed firmly in place and didn’t fade. I can’t believe the difference eyeliner makes to my eyes, they stand out and it made my lashes look thicker, longer and more dramatic!”

I have been trying to get my friend to try eyeliner for years – and it seems that I need to learn a few persuasions skills from Colorsport as they have succeeded where I have failed. She had instant sexy eyes in one stoke and is now a true convert!

I am off on holiday next month so am going to try out the Long Lasting 30 Day Mascara and brow dye kit! It sounds perfect for hassle and streak free beach beautiful makeup! Let’s hope there not a drag queen in sight! I will let you know my thoughts...

Colorsport retails at Boots, Superdrug and Asda. The Long Lasting Eye Definer retails at £6.99

Beat the Heat with Summer Styling

by Andrea
Now that the sun is finally shining it’s about time to flaunt your summer style. To help you get set for summer some of the beauty industry’s most notable experts have picked their must-have collection of products. Stylist Sam McKnight, celebrity facialist Antastasia Acrhilleos, make up artist Caroline Barnes and celebrity hairdresser Ben Cooke give you their top tips to achieve a sexy summer glow, with minimum effort.

1. Sam McKnight says that this summer “hair is all about volume. Volume brings hair alive, adding style and finish, it’s not just about ‘Big Hair’ it’s about having shiny, glossy hair that looks and feels great.” Prepare hair using Pantene Pro-V Volume & Body Shampoo & Conditioner which helps protect hair during the styling process.

2. Ben Cooke recommends Herbal Essence Beautiful Ends Leave In Conditioner to combat the summer curse of dry and frizzy ends!

3. According to celebrity facialist Anastasia Achilleos ‘Exfoliation should be your first step to a radiant glow, as it will help reveal newer, fresher-looking skin behind the dullness. Always following with a nourishing lotion such as Olay Total Effects Moisturiser which offers the perfect summer solution to your face combining seven anti-ageing benefits in one pot

4. Radiant skin is this summer’s must-have, get that right and you will have little else to look great (except your hair). When out in the sun, Anastasia recommends using a moisturiser containing broad spectrum UV Protection to block UVA/UVB rays and provide much needed antioxidants.

5. For summer make-up, Caroline Barnes, Max Factor MakeUp Artist recommends putting the emphasis on your eyes. “This means the way you make up your lashes is crucial, as they’re going to stand out more against summer pastel shades. When applying mascara looking down on a mirror held at chin level encourages you to brush right from the base of the lashes to the tip. To target tricky to reach bottom lashes, hold the brush vertically and use like a paintbrush”.

6. “To create a professional perfect complexion use a foundation brush to apply your base. Start from your t-zone and blend outwards to your hair line using your brush to build up where necessary and feather out to the edges for a seamless finish” advises Caroline.

7.Vibrant Curve Effect Lip Gloss gives your lip shape for the extra boost, but for more pout power use a natural lip liner first to trace a beautiful lip shape and then apply gloss. This will make the colour more intense but more importantly when the gloss wears off you are left with a great shape”, concludes Caroline.

8. As hems get shorter and we dare to bare in our bikinis, it’s important to have smooth and silky legs. Skincare therapist Nichola Joss recommends shaving with water and a shaving gel as hydrated hair is easier to cut. Change blades regularly for maximum performance and remember there are a few oil glands on the legs so it’s important to keep skin moisturised. As an added indulgence use Gillette Satin Care Lavender Kiss – it combines the soothing benefits of lavender with skin-nourishing ingredients to protect the skin’s natural barrier.

Fragrance of the Month: Versus by Versace

by Sarah-Jane

It's funny how an appearance from the ever elusive sun puts a spring in my step. I am not the best with the winter weather; cold, dark, dismal - and that’s just my mood! Suddenly I feel like I am shaking off that gloom of the colder months and am ready to embrace summer.

I like to wear perfumes that reflect my mood and so have been looking for a fresh and upbeat scent. My little bit of summer in a bottle! And I have found it in the form of the new Versus fragrance by Versace.

An intensely fruity number with notes of apple and lemon whilst also bringing in romantic floral and sensual musk and patchouli notes which gives it edge and reflects the rock n'roll Versace brand. It’s the type of fragrance that I would wear by day as it never tires and each time I have worn it I have picked up a different fragrance note.

The fragrance comes in a deep purple bottle that fades upwards to clear; apparently coming back to the brands ethos of a game of opposites! Empty to full spaces, cold to warm, melodious to lively, classic to audacious, sublime to rock and roll! I have to agree this perfume is certainly one of extreme characters - it reminds me of myself moving from winter and summer!

This is a summer must have - and I have a feeling that likely a winter must have too as I pick out a completely different note with my change of mood. You can buy this fragrance at most department stores and I have found it online at Boots for £30 for a 30ml bottle.

No pain, no gain!

by Andrea

This product is best for: spa treatments, tension back areas, Elemis lovers

Price: Treat yourself!

I was treated to some Wahanda vouchers the other day, lucky me!

I have seen and heard of the site but never ventured online to try it for fear it would bombard me with offers that were always too good to be true... but I couldnt have been more wrong. The site offers a comprehensive listing of everything health and beauty related which are near to your chosen location. So, if you’re wondering where your nearest spa is, whether to wax or shave, what to eat before yoga or maybe you’re just curious about colonics - Wahanda has the answers. It’s like having your own beauty advisor. The thing I liked most was that its not just the big chain spas but your local salons too. Plus there were hundreds of GENUINE discounts and offers to take advantage of.

I didn't know where to start....and could have spent well over my allocated £75 voucher! However I decided to treat myself, and my boyfriend, to a deep tissue Elemis neck and back massage (£37.50 each for a half hour session) at the Amida Spa in Beckenham! I was a little tired and was looking forward to a Sunday afternoon of pampering until I realised that deep tissue, really is DEEP tissue. My therapist worked on my back for a solid half hour and attacked a problem I have had under my shoulder blade and lower back. Fingers, arms and even elbows were buried deep into the muscles. Relaxing it wasn’t as I battled with the pain vs pleasure of the treatment, and whilst my therapist may of had the strength in her hands of a body builder, she was informative and gentle with a relaxing massage at the end of the treatment. The salon accepted my vouchers with no problem, making them a gift I could get used to having! Wahanda is a great way to find out what treatments are avaliable in your area from a completely unbiased source.

I have already signed up to the Wahanda newsletter to see what other treatments I can book myself in for...maybe something a little more soothing next time!

Visit Wahanda now and find the perfect treatment for you or show your boyfriend how much he means to you...with a nice deep tissue massage. It will certainly sort the men from the boys! .

Festival Beauty Must-Haves

Ever wondered how the celebs still look great after a night camping under the stars! Our Guest Blogger, makeup artist LeSalonDeBeaute, reveals her top 5 festival beauty products to keep festival fabulous with minimum effort!

I'm not a festival goer. I've always fancied myself as one but I just know that the reality is that it's not for me. For starters, I'm seriously geographically challenged! I can barely find my own house every day let alone a tiny tent in an ocean of tents across a field of fields. Then there are the crowds. I'm only small. I'd lose my friends in all the throngs of people. Combine that with not being able to find my tent and I'd be in all sorts of trouble. So I stay away from the festivals. I did go to the O2 Wireless festival once! That was great fun! Ever so civilised standing around in Hyde Park with cups of Pimms and watching Rufus Wainwright and Keane. Much more my cup of tea. Mmm... tea... yummm. Another reason festivals aren't for me. Can you take a tea pot there with you?

Anyway, while I watch festivals on TV and dream about looking as cool as Sienna in a boho dress and wellies, I ponder what festival beauty products I'd take with me. What kind of moisturiser does one need when sleeping in a teepee?

1.The very first thing that came to mind to combat festival hair was dry shampoo! It's just not possible for a girl to look glamorous with greasy hair! It just can't be done! I'd go with Batiste. For me it's the brunette version. You can nearly make it through a week without washing your hair if you've got a can of this handy! I also love that it's totally cheap and cheerful! You're not going to get upset if it gets washed away in a flash flood while you're crowd surfing in front of a stage elsewhere.

2.Technically this next one is two items. But I've decided to class them together as one! In case the sun does decide to shine down on Blighty, you have got to have sun screen! I swear by Institut Esthederm. They also have one that is a face cream with their special sun screen combined and it will do gorgeous things to your complexion. Now, these guys don't have an SPF number. You get one, two or three suns. Three suns is more for skiing or if you're going to trek to a pole. For a festival I would go with two suns, and I have incredibly fair skin that burns really easily. This sunscreen is great because it encourages all your own melanin to rise towards the surface of your skin. That means when the lotion starts to wear off, you'll have your own natural protection helping you out rather than just leaving you high and dry to burn to a crisp. It's the only lotion I've used where I've never ended up with some kind of burn.

3. So you're going to need something to wash all the mud off your face at the end of the day. Well, I've heard the stories of what the facilities are like at a festival! I don't think I'd be taking my Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish out there! No, I think this calls for Simple's Gentle Cleansing Wipes! Easy to pack, no running water required, effective but gentle on pretty much any skin type! In fact, I keep these in my makeup kit for almost every client I work on.

4. Now, me being me, there is no way I couldn't have just a little makeup, even at a festival. I think I'd pretty much stick to just two items though. Something to even out my skin tone and mascara. For foundation, I'd go with my new favourite, bareMinerals Original Foundation Powder. Just swirl the kabuki in the pot, tap off the excess and buff it into your skin! Trust me, this will last ALL DAY! It will give you a gorgeous complexion as well as a little more sun protection.

5. As far as the mascara goes, obviously it NEEDS to be waterproof! I love Rimmel's Waterproof Volume Flash mascara. It gives you those gorgeous, thick lashes you love in a super inky black. I like to really wiggle it into my lashes to get loads of definition around the eye - almost like wearing eyeliner without the hassle of having an extra step in your morning makeup regime. And this stuff isn't going to budge! You'll probably need to take it off properly with an oil makeup remover when you get back home!

I hope that helps your wash bag packing dilemmas for wherever you're heading this festival season! Stick to those basics, add some killer sunglasses and someone is sure to think you're with the band!

Hot Pink in the City

by Sarah-Jane

This product is best for: make up addicts, party girls, online shopping, fashion make up

Price: Bargain!

I have finally managed to get all my girls together for the night to see the highly anticipated Sex In The City 2 movie, and I can’t wait! My boyfriend can’t understand what the fuss is about as we discuss outfits, swap stilettos and mix up one too many Cosmopolitan cocktails. He doesn’t know what he is missing!

I needed to complete my outfit with a gorgeous nail polish – it is going to be the home of many a cocktail glass after all. So you can imagine my excitement when I found out that Nubar had created the fabulous Summer In The City nail polish collection to celebrate the film!

I was like Carrie in a shoe shop when I set eyes on the four fabulous nail sets which have all been based on the fashion capitals of the world, with each character representing a different city. Whether you’re feeling stylish like Carrie, classic like Charlotte, professional like Miranda or sexy like Samantha Nubar has a shade to suit all.

I was feeling pretty brave and treated myself to the Hot Pink from the Sex and the City 2 Samantha collection – and it’s definitely a show stopper! The colour is bright and applied evenly, smoothly and only needed two coats! I have used Nubar Nail polishes before and I love them. They are chip resistant and the colour doesn’t fade.

Nubar Summer in the City nail polish collection is available at beautyshed.co.uk who are currently offering 4 colours from any of the City choices - and only pay for 3! £24.00 for a set of four, thats more money in your Manolo blahnik fund!
