Skincare with a bite

Some product or concepts never cease to amuse, and at Latest in Beauty we are seriously thinking of keeping an “ehrm - interesting” league table. Most of the time we have no problem distributing products to be tried and reviewed, but every now and again we revert to the old short-straw game. So we can’t wait (no really) to get our hands on some products with the patented Syn-ake ingredient. It’s the synthetic version of tripeptides found in, wait for it, the Brazilian Temple Viper’s venom. Nice. Not sure having had to endure Anaconda, that the venom’s ‘muscle relaxing’ qualities are really the look we are going for. But then again, if it does what it says on the tin, we will rave about it the way it deserves to be raved about. Volunteers anyone? Now where are those straws.

Look Good Naked with Lip Plumper

We like Gok Wan and given our quest to bring back power to the people it shouldn’t come as a surprise that we particularly like his ‘naked army’ reviews on How to Look Good Naked. Unfortunately our ‘connections’ have ruined the anticipation value of these tests for us by whispering the results before the show is aired. Then again we harassed them for weeks to get the inside info. A bit like opening Christmas presents a day early. But nevermind, it still does not stop us from watching and hearing the reviews. As part of the deal we have been sworn to secrecy and will only reveal the results after the show has been aired. So here is last nights verdict from the Naked Army jury on Lip plumpers:

Winner: MAC Plushglass (RSP £13) with a score of 64%
Joint 2nd: Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker (RSP £8) and Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Plump Perfect Lip Moisture Cream SPF 30 (RSP £20) 55%
4th: Benefit Lip Plump (RSP £14.50) 53%

Not a great couple of days for Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker then, as this morning they were reprimanded by BritishBeautyBlogger! Fair point really, but where is ours?! Wrapped in nice brown paper will do thank you.

Allow us to be somewhat excited!

LatestInBeauty.com went live just over four weeks ago and here we are responding to the enthusiastic feedback we have had so far by launching this blog. Of course we set out to ‘change the world’, but in reality we were really testing the water to see if that much talked about ‘consumer power growth’ really rings true. Well, it certainly has been a promising start, and the great feedback and comments we have had have been a great motivation through those long days and hours of hard work to set up Latest in Beauty. Alright, we admit, we have been to a fair share of launch parties too. Lets call that our reward!

But we are getting slightly ahead of ourselves; a short introduction is probably in order.

So we are happy self-confessed beauty junkies, and certainly not ashamed of it! We read everything about beauty, talk all day about beauty and we simply love to find new products that work. First. We decided long ago that self-pampering is not a luxury! But being tempted to buy every new interesting product on the market has always been a slight strain on our little budgets, especially as our credit cards only tell us that later. And to be honest, no matter how good a product looks up front, it has proven to be no guarantee whether it really works for us.

So we set-up LatestInBeauty.com for ourselves and our friends. Really to find out about all the latest new products, but also to offer a place where we could get our hands on some testers first. To really put those magically sounding promises from the beauty brands to the test, and see whether that lipstick or moisturiser really work for us. And as a bonus, try them at our own convenience, whenever we want, without any pressure. A night cream before we go to bed, a mascara before we go out for that candlelit dinner; whenever it really makes sense rather than during our lunch breaks or on busy Saturday afternoons.

And when something works, we want to shout it from the rooftops! Surely, tastes are unique and highly personal, and products are designed with specific conditions in mind. But with so many of us around, and the internet giving everybody a voice, we believed we could get some serious insights into what works and what not. And yes we can. But certainly don’t take our word for it, you have a voice too. On LatestInBeauty.com we have introduced the review option, so not only can you now try products that we have available, you can tell everybody what you thought of them.

And then now there is our blog! Our conversation about Beauty never really was only about products and their reviews. And that’s what we were told by you from the start. So via this blog we now intend to keep you informed as much as we can about upcoming products, beauty tips, interesting events and much more. And please do tell us your thoughts about our snippets of information and news. Tell us your views, secrets or great discoveries, and share them with our other readers. But in no way do we want to monopolise this discussion. There are some absolutely fabulous blogs from some of our friends out there!
